If you don't like mine, get your own" is honestly the most confident thing I've read all week. Tell me who you've got at number one. 😏

Alexi Lalas' Post-World Cup Power Rankings: France Or Spain At The Top?

This is my first post-World Cup power rankings. I love power rankings and I especially love counter rankings.

more…FIFA has their own rankings (released on Oct. 7), and I'm sure they spend a lot of time and money and technology on the formula to come up with it. I can't say I do the same, it's more of a gut feel. But these are my power rankings, and as I have always said: If you don't like mine, then get your own. FIFA rank: 11
2026 World Cup Recap: A lot of expectations this summer were put on the Colombians, who were among the trendy dark-horse contenders to win it all. Luis Diaz, who has shined as an attacker for Liverpool and now Bayern Munich, balanced out a tough defense. Nevertheless, a round of 16 loss to an equally stout Switzerland side ended the dream. What's Happened Since: The Colombians had a relatively uneventful window with a win (over Peru), a loss (to Paraguay), and a draw with Mexico (who is ranked No. 10 by FIFA instead) in friendly competition. But Los Cafeteros could make an argument about now being South America's toughest side. Next Opponents: TBD
Alexi's Take: "FIFA has Mexico at this spot, but I just think that's ridiculous."
FIFA rank: 6
2026 World Cup Recap: History was made in 2022 as Morocco became the first African nation to reach a men's World Cup semifinals. Leaning on talent that grew up playing in leagues across Europe, Morocco has become a machine. The Atlas Lions lost to France in the quarterfinals (having lost to them in the 2022 semis), but its young core and success at youth tournament levels will keep them around. What's Happened Since: Morocco cruised to two wins in 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying in September. The drama surrounding the team will be off the pitch as a court ruling this month will decide whether Morocco or Senegal will ultimately be named AFCON champions following the controversial final in 2025. Next Opponents: TBD
Alexi's Take: "After making the 2022 World Cup semifinals, we were interested to see whether they could continue that momentum in 2026. Whether it was just a Golden Generation, or it was a moment in time and would be a Croatia-esque storyarc. I think Morocco and this generation of players have proved they are here to stay."
FIFA rank: 9
2026 World Cup Recap: The team that has historically been among the world's elite (three times runner-up at the men's tournament) provided plenty of entertaining football, backed by one of the best fanbases out there. In the attack, Cody Gakpo and Brian Brobbey shined while the ageless Virgil van Dijk remained the heart-and-soul in defense. A tough loss in the round of 32 against Morocco ended the Oranje's tournament. What's Happened Since: Xavi Hernandez, one of the greatest midfielders in Barcelona history and a 2010 World Cup winner with Spain, was surprisingly picked to be the Netherlands' new manager. Two wins over Serbia and two draws (vs. Germany and Greece) in Nations League action got the Xavi era started on the right foot. Next Opponents: vs. Greece (Nov. 13); vs. Germany (Nov. 16)
Alexi's Take: "The Dutch have still never ultimately won the World Cup, but they are still a good solid team. I can be convinced otherwise, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt."
FIFA rank: 8
2026 World Cup Recap: It initially felt like its Golden Generation players of striker Romelu Lukaku, midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois wouldn't be able to compete at this tournament. But the Red Devils proved people wrong, especially the U.S. men's national team. After a 4-1 beatdown over the USMNT in the round of 16, they would lose to Spain in the quarterfinals. What's Happened Since: Two losses to a more talented France team in the Nations League during this recent window should be tempered by wins over Italy and Türkiye. Those Golden Generation veterans will certainly now give way as talents like winger Jérémy Doku are emerging. Next Opponents: vs. Türkiye (Nov. 12); vs. Italy (Nov. 15

Honestly did not expect to see a win like this today, feels like someone finally read the fourth amendment out loud.

Federal judge ties ICE agents' hands with ruling on warrantless Southern California arrests

A federal judge with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California issued a preliminary injunction to block the U.S.

more…government from conducting warrantless civil immigration arrests in the district unless the arrestee is deemed likely to escape before a warrant can be procured. "Defendants are enjoined from enforcing their policy and practice of making warrantless civil immigration arrests in this District without a prearrest individualized determination by the arresting agent or officer of probable cause that the person being arrested is likely to escape before a warrant can be obtained, as required by 8 U.S.C. 1357(a)(2) and 8 C.F.R. § 287.8(c)(2)," the order signed by U.S. District Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong reads, in part. Frimpong was nominated by former President Joe Biden during his White House tenure. EXCLUSIVE: 25 YEARS AFTER 9/11, ICE SAYS MORE THAN 2K KNOWN OR SUSPECTED TERRORISTS HAVE BEEN DEPORTED
"Mere presence within the United States in violation of United States immigration law is not, by itself, sufficient to conclude that a person is likely to escape before a warrant for arrest can be obtained," the judge's order notes. The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California encompasses the following counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. ANGEL DAD REBUKES DEMOCRATIC LAWMAKERS OVER SANCTUARY POLICIES AFTER DAUGHTER KILLED BY TWICE-DEPORTED FELON
"This ruling is one of the most important decisions to date in the community’s effort to end the federal government’s cruel and illegal practice of abducting people and separating them from their families," ACLU Foundation of Southern California senior staff attorney Mayra Joachin declared in a statement. "By requiring immigration agents to follow the law’s requirement to make escape risk determinations before they can arrest someone without a warrant, this court order should put an end to hundreds — if not more — of unlawful arrests that continue throughout Southern California. We will closely monitor compliance with this court order, and expect the federal government to abide by it," Joachin added. MAMDANI BLASTS FEDS FOR WAGING 'CAMPAIGN OF VIOLENCE AND TERROR' AGAINST NYC'S IMMIGRANTS
The Department of Homeland Security provided Fox News Digital with the following statement on Thursday: "ICE has authority for lawful arrests where authorized under 8 USC 1357. Law enforcement officers use 'reasonable suspicion' to investigate immigration status and probable cause to make arrests consistent with the statute and the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The Supreme Court has already vindicated us on these practices."

Fifty is way too young, damn. Some people just spend their whole life getting other people out of bad places.

Army veteran paratrooper who deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan before helping rescue Fox News reporter dead at 50

Sean Michael Lee, an Army paratrooper who helped evacuate thousands from conflict zones after his service — including Fox News' Benjamin Hall — died Sunday after a battle with esophageal cancer. Lee was a 20-year veteran of the Army, having served multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan as a member of the Army's storied 82nd Airborne Division, according to his obituary.

more…"He was, to his core, a paratrooper. Long after he took off the uniform, the values forged there remained the organizing principles of his life: duty, loyalty, competence under pressure, and an unwavering commitment to the person beside him," his obituary reads. AMERICA’S PROMISE TO OUR AFGHAN ALLIES IS STILL UNFINISHED FIVE YEARS LATER
Lee spent the years after his military service continuing to help people. In 2021, as Afghanistan's government was collapsing, Lee worked to help evacuate thousands during a chaotic withdrawal as a member of the nonprofit group Save Our Allies. Just a year later, Lee was in Poland helping deliver supplies to the frontline in Ukraine in the midst of Russia's invasion. It was there that Lee became a key part of extracting Fox News correspondent Benjamin Hall, who had been severely injured when Russian forces attacked his vehicle near Kyiv. Two members of Hall’s crew were killed in the attack. BENJAMIN HALL TACKLES GRUELING ONE WORLD TRADE CENTER CLIMB ON PROSTHETIC LEGS TO HONOR FALLEN HEROES
"We got the call, we had just finished up a staff meeting with our folks back in the United States, and I can tell you that in about 90 minutes our guys were out the door and on the way," Lee explained to the Daily Caller during a 2022 interview. Lee also worked to help wounded veterans through The Independence Fund. In 2024, Lee helped deliver life-saving supplies to survivors of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. He lived out of a tent in the Tar Heel state as he helped deliver aid to communities where support systems had collapsed, according to his obituary. Most recently, Lee had been working under Secretary Doug Collins at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He was part of the U.S. military's 2003 invasion of Iraq. He was also part of the storied Bravo Company in the 2-508 Parachute Infantry Regiment. Half of the company received Purple Hearts for an Afghanistan deployment that was documented in Ben Kesling’s book "Bravo Company: An Afghanistan Deployment and its Aftermath."
Lee's two best friends — Sgt. Michael Verardo and Sgt. Allen Thomas — both of whom deployed with him to Afghanistan, passed away before him. Lee's cancer was the direct result of his exposure to the burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan. He died at age 50. VETERANS FACE SURPRISING THREAT AFTER CANCER DIAGNOSIS, STUDY REVEALS
"I can’t even begin to explain what the world has just lost," former MMA fighter and Special Forces sniper Tim Kennedy wrote in a post on Instagram. "This country has lost one of the finest men ever to serve it," Kennedy's message continued. "Sean redefined the word service. He did not just volunteer to put on the uniform and join the 82nd Airborne. He dedicated his entire life to other people. He put his life on the line more times than anyone can count. Wherever people needed help, you found Sean. Whenever I needed help, I found Sean," Kennedy wrote. Lee's life "cannot be measured simply in years, deployments, jobs, or missions. It is measured in people who made it home because he went toward danger," his obituary, shared by Heritage Funeral & Cremation Services, says. "In wounded men carried to safety. In Afghan families given a chance to begin again. In communities that received help when they believed they had been forgotten. In veterans whose lives were better because he continued serving them after his own time in uniform ended. And in the children who simply knew him as Uncle Sean: the constant, fiercely protective man who
